Raj Parisad regional meet raps parties for misrule

POST REPORT

NEPALGUNJ, JAN 03 - The second regional conference of the Raj Parisad began here today with almost all the speakers strongly criticising the five political parties launching agitation against royal regression.
Addressing the opening ceremony of the conference, Raj Parisad chairman Parashu Narayan Chaudhary said, "It is regrettable that the political parties have no faith on the King."
He blamed the political parties for bringing the country into this mess and claimed that the King’s October 4 decision was the result of the "12 years of bad-governance and corruption."
Chaudhary claimed that the three-day regional conference was organised to "understand people’s desires and feelings about the current situation." He said that they would finally hold a central-level conference and submit its conclusions to the King to find out the solution to the crisis facing the country.
However, district-level leaders of the five agitating parties viewed that the manoeuvre of the Raj Parisad was the last ditch effort to drag the King into active politics so that former Panchas could "fulfil their vested political interests".Posted on: 2004-01-04 04:54
