Princess Himani inaugurates second district camporee

KATHMANDU, JAN 02 - On the auspicious occasion of the 33rd birthday of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Himani Rajya Laxmi Devi Shah inaugurated the nationwide second district camporee at Godavari today.
Speaking at the programme, Minister for Education and Sports, Hari Bahadur Basnet, said that Nepal Scouts, established under the patronage of late king Tribhuvan, has played an important role in the development of the country. He said, "The contributions of scouts are remarkable in making students disciplined and involving them in social and religious activities."
Shree Ram Lamichhane, chief scout of Nepal Scouts, said disciplined leadership and enhancing discipline in youths through service was the major objective of scouts. He said that Nepal will soon organise a South Asia Foundation Scout Friendship Camp with the participation of scouts from SAARC countries and from Afghanistan as well.
Her Royal Highness the Crown Princess gave away certificates to the scouts on the occasion. A total of 997 scouts from 11 districts are participating in the five-day camporee.
Meanwhile, a release from the District Scout Office, Kathmandu, has announced a three-day ‘Jamborette-2060’, on the auspicious occasion of the 33rd birthday of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince. The programme will start from 4th January at the Shleshmantak forest of Pashupati Area Development Trust.Over 1200 scouts and scout teachers from Kathmandu and other districts are expected to attend this programme. Challenging activities, off-site activities, intellectual activities, fun activities and community service are the five major activities, among others, of the programme.Posted on: 2004-01-03 04:37
