Bandits loot houses in Rupandehi
BUTWAL, JAN 02 - Eight bandits have plundered and looted four houses at midnight on Tuesday in Kerabari VDC-6 situated at the north-eastern area of Rupandehi district.
According to the area police office of Butwal, the dacoits have looted 135 gm of gold and a mobile set from Yamlal’s house while they carried away their booty of seven gold rings, four gold necklaces and cash worth Rs10,000 from Meghnath Neupane’s house. Similarly, they had got hands on a radio set and a leather jacket from Shibalal Bhandary’s house while they robbed a gold chain from Keshav Ghimire’s house.According to the victims, the robbers armed with khukuris axes and sickle were talking both in Nepali and Hindi.
The recent rise in robbery around Rupandehi has terrorised the locals. It is learnt that the police do not come to the site immediately even though the locals informed them. The police, however, justify their act saying that there is risk of stumbling over the ambush set by the Maoists while moving at night.
According to a police officer, the police have identified the robbers and would soon be under their grip.Posted on: 2004-01-03 04:42
