Children’s story books released

KATHMANDU, JAN 01 - Realising the need of colourful and qualitative storybook to educate children and instigating morale values in them, eight children’s storybooks were released in the initiative of Room to Read and Nepal Children’s Literature Society, here today.
Designed with multicoloured pictures that appeal to the children, the books written in both Nepali and English attribute not only to its storywriters but also to the artists.
The pictorial books released today were Gopi ko topi (Gopi’s Cap), Chameliko Basana (The Scent of Chameli), Chimpu ra Ghadi (Chimpu and Watch), Juju ra Hira ( Juju and Hira), Milijuli Ghar (Happy Home), Rama Danga Parin (Elated Rama), Arti ra Buddhi (Advice and Wisdom) , Shihripita Maiju ra arukathaharu (Shihripita Maiju and other stories).
The graphics of the books written by Rambabu Subedi, Shashwat Parajuli, Sharada Adhikari, Shiva Hari Adhikari, Ranjushree Parajuli, Dr Kabitaram Shrestha and Shilpi Pradhan have been designed by Tek Bir Mukhiya, Sujan Chitrakar, Jupiter Pradhan, KK Karmachharya and Rajababu Shakya. Majority of these writers and artists are acclaimed names in their respective fields.
Meanwhile, in the programme, Minister for Physical Planning and Works Buddhi Man Tamang also gave away prizes to the winners of folk tales competition. Anju Dhakal of Mahendra Higher Secondary School (Pokhara), Neelam Dawadi of Spol English School (Kathamandu) and Preshna Manandahar of Paragon Public School (Kathmandu) got the first, second and third prize respectively. The winners were given away letter of appreciation and the purse of Rs 4000, Rs 3000 and Rs 1500.
According to the organisers, the contest entitled "Mero Gaunko Lok Katha" (Folk tales of my village), held among the 10-16 age group had 65 entries from 19 districts of the country. The contest was organised on the occasion of Children’s Day.
