‘Toys for Tots’ conducted in Kathmandu
KATHMANDU, DEC 30 - Over 50 children from four different orphanages were presented with a toy, a blanket, fuzzy animal slippers, fleece jackets and fleece-lined wool knit hat under the ‘Toys for Tots’ programme.
According to a statement issued by American Centre, Embassy of the United States here today, the camp was run as a part of the annual, worldwide ‘Toys for Tots’ programme. Toys and other items worth U.S. $ 750 were distributed to needy children, said the statement.
Th United States Marine Corps Reserve established the programme in 1947 in the U.S. in conjunction with the Salvation Army.
They set up collection points for toys at many locations throughout the U.S., which to many events held by private clubs and businesses, corporations, and other organisations that are in support of the programme, the statement further says.Posted on: 2003-12-31 04:44
