Women submit memorandum

BARDIYA, DEC 25 - Two women today presented a memorandum to the Ministry of Home demanding action against Rajendra Prasad Shrivastav, the incumbent mayor of Gulariya, for having attempted to rape them.
Janaki Chaudhari and Dil Mohini Chaudhari, from Manau VDC today submitted the memorandum through the District Administration Office (DAO) stating that the District Police Office (DPO) failed to take any action against the culprit.
The mayor had extorted Rs. 5,000 each from the women on the pretext of freeing their husbands, who had been arrested by security personnel on February 25. The mayor also attempted to rape them, according to the women. The mayor is at large since Sunday after the women came public with the issue.Posted on: 2003-12-26 04:36
