Birtamod to host regional trade fair
KATHMANDU, DEC 26 - With an aim to promote bilateral trade between Nepal and Bangladesh, Eastern Region Industrial Trade Fair- 2004 is going to be organised at Birtamod, Jhapa from 17 to 23 February.
Speaking at the press conference organised here to disseminate information regarding the fair, Binod Bahadur Shrestha, President, Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) said that the fair would be catalyst to promote Nepali exports.
"Even after the five years of operation of Banglabandh route, export of the country through the eastern region has been unable to meet the desired goal, especially because the route has not been utilised properly," he said.
Chandiraj Dhakal, First Vice President of the FNCCI opined that participation of Bangladeshi businessmen during the fair will be remarkable to build the trade links. "And, this will contribute to strengthening bilateral trade relations between Nepal and Bangladesh," he added.
Speaking on the occasion, Narendra Kumar Khadka, President of Mechi Chamber of Commerce and Industry said that various locals products, including tea and electrical goods, will be featured during the fair.
"Businessmen from India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, and China will also set up stalls during the fair," he added. According to him, a total of 200 stalls will be set up during the fair.
