Alarmed industrialists urge to set up security force
BIRGUNJ, DEC 24 - Alarmed by the series of attacks and explosions in various industries along Pathalaiya-Birgunj area, the local industrialists have requested the government to re-establish industrial security force immediately.
In a meeting called by the Birgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), the locals industrialists underlined on the need to set up industrial security force to protect the industries and industrialists from the frequent attacks, explosions and robbery by the miscreants.
On the occasion, BCCI President Om Prakash Rungata said that the lack of security would affect the industrialisation of Birgunj. "If the government’s sole attempt is not enough we will help establish the security unit in our involvement."
Currently, around two hundred large and medium industries have been in operation in this area.
The latest incident of explosion followed by the robbery at Ashok Steel Industries on Sunday, in which the industry lost over Rs. 20 million, has further bothered the local industrialists.
Even in the eve of Saturday, a gang of robber had looted Marutinandan Rolling Mill at Rampur Barahi. In this incident Sita Ram Agrawal, the manger of the mill was stabbed with knife. Running safe away from the ring of the workers, they seized Rs 11 thousand from the Aftab Oil Traders.
Earlier, Bishwakarma Cement Industry was robbed in such incidence and a store of Kediya group was bombed.
According to Ashok Baidya, proprietor of Marutinandan Rolling Mill, the absence of security force has encouraged the robbers and criminals in the area.
"Enforcement of immediate Industrial Security Force is must along the areas otherwise the investor will have no way but shutdown the industries," he said.
