WFP urged to continue its programmes

PR
DAILEKH, DEC 24 - People in the hundreds have congregated at Narayan municipality, headquarters of Dailekh district, to pressurise WFP for the continuation of its ‘Work for Food Programme’ in the district.
Implemented in rural parts of the country for around six years, thousands of people in the district received grains under the programme, as workers for road construction. People have been demonstrating, urging the WFP to continue the Work for Food programme.
The people are worried that the work for food programme may be scrapped in view of
the increasing insurgent activity.Posted on: 2003-12-25 05:18
