CAN Info Tech-04 from Jan 23

KATHMANDU, DEC 23 - Computer Association of Nepal (CAN), an organisation of information and communication technology (ICT) related professionals and businesses, is going to hold the 10th CAN Info Tech – Nepal Information Technology Show and Conference 2004 from January 23-28.
The objective of the technology show is to generate awareness of emerging technology in information and communications among the general public and to inform the experts and professionals on the latest trend in ICT.
The show would be held at the Birendra International Convention Centre, New Baneshwor and would be open for public visitors from January 23-27 between 10 AM to 5:30 PM. The last day of the expo as usual has been reserved for business people.
Speaking at a press meet, Lochan Lal Amatya, CAN President, said that a three-day IT conference would be held in between the mega IT fair which will be participated in by the gurus of ICT from Nepal and abroad.
The theme of the conference is ‘Creating Information Society – Challenges and Perspectives’.
Till now 11 working papers on different subjects have been received and the conference would deliberate on nine emerging sectors like e-Business, e-Village, e-Security, e-Consumer, e-Learning, e-Commerce, e-Banking, e-Health and e-CRM, he added.
On the occasion, Executive Member of CAN, Rajan Pant presented paper on Financial Transaction in e-business.
CN Upadhyaya, coordinator of the event, said that there would be a total of 114 stalls of which 99 have already been booked. This year, a large number of college teaching IT courses are participating in the show.
He also said that CAN would bring out newsletter every day during the event and information on the daily activities and events can be viewed at www.can.org.np, the official website of the association.
Similarly, Mercantile Communications Pvt Ltd would also provide information on the show through nepalnews.com, its web site.
Renowned companies like Samsung, Goldkist, HP, Dell, Olivetti, Acer, IBM, Fujitsu ICL would take part in the show and products like mobile phone sets, pen drive, wireless network, satellite phone and audio equipment and equipment made by the college students will also feature in the event.
Nepal Telecommunications Corporation, Ministry of Science and Technology, Kathmandu Metropolitan City and Royal Nepal Academy of Science and Technology are also participating in the IT show. The organisers have expected around 200,000 visitors during the six-day show.Posted on: 2003-12-24 04:28
