Armed men loot two houses

JANAKPUR, DEC 22 - Armed men looted cash and valuables worth over Rs. 150,000 from two houses in Laxmipur VDC in Dhanusa last night. One of the houses looted was that of ex-Deputy Chairman of the District Development Committee (DDC). A dacoit is believed killed in the incident.
The group of armed bandits, broke into houses of Chandra Dev Rout, the ex- Deputy Chairman of the DDC, and Kripal Mandal, a local, at 11.30 p.m. last night.
One of the bandits was killed in indiscriminate firing by the bullets fired by his friends and the bandits carried away the body with them, claimed locals.
Even as the bandits were busy carting of cash and valuables worth over Rs. 150,000 from the two houses, resistance put up by the villagers prevented further lootings, say locals.
Though bloodstains were found at the site of the incident, no dead bodies have been recovered so far, according to Tapendra Dhwoj Hamal, Superintendent of Police who added that a hunt is on for the looters.
