SUNSARI, DEC 22 - At least three persons died while seven others were hurt when a bus, with registration number Na. 1 Kha. 9457 hit a truck bearing registration number Na. 1 Kha. Kha. 5026, at Juddagunj of Shreepur VDC-9, along the Mahendra Highway this morning. The vehicles were heading for Kankadvitta, according to police at the District Police Office (DPO), Sunsari.
The truck driver, Nar Bahadur Thapa Magar aged around 50 years, died on the spot while Moti Kishan Yadav and Ratna Bahadur died while undergoing treatment at the B.P. Koirala Hospital.
Krishna Bahadur Shrestha, the bus driver who sustained slight injuries, is in police custody, according to police. The injured are undergoing treatment at the same hospital, according to hospital sources.
Meanwhile, a report from Dhading said that a tanker with registration number Na. 2 Kha. 1114, fell into the Trishuli River in Benighat VDC-1, along the Prithvi Highway today. The ill- fated tanker was on its way to Kathmandu from Narayangarh. The accident occurred when the tractor skidded off the road.
