‘Anti-king stir rising’

POST REPORT

NAVALPARASI, DEC 22 - Nepali Congress (NC) leader Narahari Acharya today said that the agitation against the king was picking up just because the latter has committed constitutional errors. He said this while addressing demonstrators here.
Flaying the government for booking student leaders on sedition charges, Acharya demanded an immediate apology and release of the student leaders failing which the agitation would enter a decisive phase.
Putting up a question as to what the government would do if all the students go on to raise anti-king slogans, he said that monarchy of the twenty-first century could not expect to remain in place just in the event it fails to meet the aspirations of the people.
The demonstrators had raised highly explosive slogans against King Gyanendra during the rally.Posted on: 2003-12-23 05:03
