RAJBIRAJ, DEC 21 - Some locals living around the Sagarmatha Zonal Hospital in Rajbiraj have lodged a complaint at the municipality office against the Consumer Committee for its alleged involvement in the embezzlement of fund collected for the cleaning and maintenance of the lane-road lying in front of the hospital.
For clearing this lane-road, which lies around 20 metres in the east from the main road of Rajbiraj, money was collected. The wastes dumped along this lane gave out so much foul smell that walking along this path had become almost impossible for many.
The consumers committee which was responsible for the cleaning and construction work along this 200 metre road with the financial assistance of Rs. 155,000 collected from local body, hospital, and the locals nearby, instead of carrying out its duty engaged in irregularity. According to the locals, who had filed the complaint at the municipality office, if the municipality failed to probe into this matter and did not take necessary action against culprits, they would take the case to the District Administration Office.
According to the overseer of the municipality office, the chairman of the consumers committee and some others were involved in the embezzlement. In two years time, after the collection of the fund, only Rs. 50,000 has been spent on this road without much progress.
The newly appointed mayor, Shyam Kishor Shah, has reiterated his commitment to carry out the investigation as soon as possible and take necessary action against those found guilty.
