Army barrack to be set up at DDC premises
SYANGJA, DEC 18 - The Royal Nepal Army (RNA) is to set up a barrack within the Syangja DDC premises in the district headquarters.
Ram Bandhu Regmi, the DDC Secretary and an RNA official inked an agreement to this effect yesterday.
The move was taken as per the direction of the Home Ministry, which asked the DDC to share its premises with an RNA barrack, according to Regmi.
"As per the agreement, the RNA is to use no. 1 gate, while no. 2 gate shall be for DDC’s use," said Regmi.
The need for a barrack was felt following a Maoist attack in Waling two years back. The barrack was being temporarily housed in the local children’s home, inside the DDC premises.
At present the Bal Mandir, Telecommunication Office, District Administration Office (DAO) and the residence of the Chief of District Police Office (DPO) are inside the DDC premises.
"Installation of a barrack within DDC premises shall ensure security to all institutions inside it," said an RNA official.
Since, the Maoist attack two years ago, Waling has been under curfew during the night.Posted on: 2003-12-19 03:57
