Armed group loot three houses in Sunsari
SUNSARI, DEC 17 - A report from Sunsari district says that an armed group of looters posing as Maoists have looted three houses in Inaruwa and Dumraha Village Development Committees of Sunsari and took off with booty worth Rs. 85,000.
According to the first victim, Jeet Bahadur Dangi of Sakhuwagachhi-tol of Inaruwa-3, the 20 or so looters who had come in at around 10 yesterday night had looted one tola of gold, a khukuri and cash worth Rs. 10,000. The looters had threatened Dangi not to report the matter to the police or he would face dire consequences.
Similarly, the same group looted Rs. 4,000 and a khukuri from the house of Lakshman Shah, the owner of a rice-mill nearby.
The looters also plundered the house of former VDC chairman who is also a district member of Nepali Congress Democratic, and looted ornaments and other valuables worth Rs. 60,000.
According to Superintendent of Police (SP) of Sunsari, Shyam Bahadur Khadka, the victims did not come to report about the incident even by today evening, and they had to send a police team to enquire into the matter.Posted on: 2003-12-18 04:15
