SARLAHI, DEC 12 - Security forces had detained and killed two CPN-UML cadres two months ago, claiming them to be Maoists. This was disclosed by the CPN-UML Sarlahi district committee on Wednesday. The detainees were tortured inhumanely and then were shoved into the pit and shot dead before they were buried, the district committee said in a statement. It alleged that Shankar Sahani, secretary of the CPN-UML village committee in Anchagad, and a member Ram Siwar Sahani were brutally killed by security forces on October 11. Two months ago, the security forces had said that the two were killed in action while they tried to spy on the security forces.
After the incident, the CPN-UML district committee in Sarlahi probed into the incident under the coordination of Rabeti Panta, a district committee member. The statement alleged that Shankar, 35, and Ram Iswar, 30, were not Maoists but were returning from a village fair on the night of October 11 when the security forces arrested them from the Sudama Barrage. The next day, on October 12, they were made to dig a pit and were pushed into it and shot dead, the statement said.
It was also revealed during the press meet that Haider Ansari, a resident of Parsa-5, was killed by security forces. He was actually scared of security forces and was running away but the security forces shot him dead anyway, the statement added.Posted on: 2003-12-13 04:21
