Memorial for rural health worker killed by Maoists

KATHMANDU, DEC 11 - A stupa is being constructed in Ramechhap, in the memory of late rural health worker, Relimaya Tamang of Doramba, who was killed by Maoists three months ago. Relimaya had dedicated 14 years of her life in the field of health.
The stupa to be called "Relimaya Tamang Memorial Stupa" is being constructed in front of the main gate of District Health Office in Ramechap under local initiative.
Relimaya’s family and the health office has appealed to interested organisations as well as individuals interested in contributing to this cause, to provide assistance through the construction committee formed under Tularam Lama, a local resident.After Relimaya’s death, her husband Chandika Lal, who was displaced by the Maoists from his residence in Doramba and Hildebi, has been living in the capital. The Maoists seized and occupied all land property and assets totalling Rs. 5.2 million.Relimaya’s family has demanded compensation from the government through an application given to the Chief District Officer (CDO). It is learnt that the Home Ministry has initiated necessary action in this connection.Posted on: 2003-12-12 05:00
