Govt holding talks on polls
KATHMANDU, DEC 08 - The government has begun consultations so as to hold the general elections in the middle of next year and is holding talks with the Election Commission and the Attorney General to determine who can announce the dates for the polls, a minister said here today.
"We are seeking advice as to who can announce the dates of the elections," Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Sarvendra Nath Shukla said while speaking at a programme.
Speaking about the recent Supreme Court move to review the earlier rejected writ challenging the dissolution of the House of Representatives, Minister Shukla said the government would not have any objection even if the apex court revives the House.Posted on: 2003-12-09 04:33
