Colourful plan

DEC 04 - This is in reference to the news item “Govt plans to add some colour to public school textbooks,” published in your esteemed daily on Dec. 03. I read news on education, but this news has particularly drawn my attention and curiosity all the more. Adding colour to government school textbooks means a revolution in the public sector education, though it may mean nothing new to private schools. Thanks to the government, which is embarking on this innovative mission. However, I am equally worried: How long will the colouring process take? Will it be like the promises made by Teachers’ Service Commission (TSC), which took eight years to publish the results of a simple qualifying test of teachers’ exams? I have
this fear since your reporter seemed to be beating around the bush when it came to answering my curiosity.
