SIRAHA, DEC 04 - Maoist rebels torched two school buses of Sagarmatha Boarding School in Mirchaiya of Siraha district this evening. The vehicles were completely destroyed. However, no one was hurt in the incidents, according to Pradeep Kumar Tiwari, the founder and principal of the school.
The rebels torched a bus with registration number Sa 1 Kha 373 in Bastipur of Badaharamal VDC-9 while it was on its way to drop some 30 students back home. Another bearing registration number Sa 1 Kha 378 was set on fire near a kiln, one kilometre away from Golbazaar. The vehicle was returning to the school after dropping students to their homes. The school has suffered a loss of 1.6 million rupees in incidents, according to Tiwari.
The vehicles ferried 180 students daily to the school from Dhangadi bazaar in the east of Mirchaiya and Bandipur bazaar to its west. Tiwari said that some members All Nepal National Independent Students Union-Revolutionary (ANNISU-R), affiliated to the rebel party, came to the school, on Tuesday afternoon.
"When I asked them the purpose of their visit, they forcibly got inside the school and installed a black flag and then left," said Tiwari.Posted on: 2003-12-03 10:47
