FNTE asks Govt to review decision

POST REPORT

KATHMANDU, DEC 03 - Federation of Nepalese Transport Entrepreneurs (FNTE) has asked the government to allow either to import or buy one microbus against one three-wheeled auto, which the non-meter two-stroke auto owners required to operate outside the Kathmandu Valley.
The government has asked them to operate their autos outside the valley by the end of this fiscal year.
Currently, the government has decided to allow them import or buy one microbus against three non-meter autos. "This decision puts the non-meter auto owners at disadvantage and government should do justice to them by reviewing its decision," states a press release issued here today.
In case of meter auto, however, two-stroke auto owners are allowed to import or buy one microbus against one auto. Arguing that the two-stroke autos polluted the environment of the valley, the government has decided to relocate them.
The federation has also asked the government to convert the three-wheeler two-stroke auto into scrap rather than relocating them outside the valley.
"Instead, the government should pledge concessions on customs and other duties to the owners for brining in new vehicles against them," the release states.
Moreover, the federation has asked the government to ban further import or trade of three-wheeled two-stroke autos in the country to prevent further complications on the matter.
