Anti-retroviral drugs

DEC 03 - I was indeed happy to learn that anti-retroviral (ARV) drugs would be available in Nepal from January next year. There are currently more than 61, 000 HIV/AIDS victims in Nepal and the figure is estimated to reach around 150, 000 over the next three years. As such, the plan to introduce ARV is a welcome step on the part of the government. However, the government should ensure that these drugs are available to even those living in the remote parts of the country.
