Wasteful exercise

DEC 02 - Your daily deserves applause for exposing the manner in which government officials are spending money, donated for the welfare of orphan children, on foreign tours. (News report: “Orphanage funds foreign junkets of govt officials,” Nov 30). No doubt, it is necessary to keep track of Nepali children adopted by foreign couples. But, does the process have to be as expensive as it is now? Why can’t the donated money, instead, be used for the welfare of children who are not as lucky as the adopted children and are still languishing at the orphanage?
