Over 500 RNAC passengers stranded
KATHMANDU, DEC 02 - Over 500 passengers have been stranded as two Boeing 757s belonging to the Royal Nepal Airlines Corporation (RNAC) grounded due to technical problem on Saturday.
The grounding of both international aircraft of the RNAC has also compelled many passengers to miss their connecting flights. The corporation currently has only two aircraft in international flights.
This is the second time when two Boeings of the national flag carrier have grounded loosing millions of rupees and credibility home and abroad. The RNAC has been linking ten destinations in seven countries.
The RNAC, however, has informed to initiate process to bring both grounded aircraft into operation. While one has already flown to Brunei, the remaining one is at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) for maintenance.
Royal Brunei Airlines (RBA) is an authorised servicing agent for the RNAC aircraft. The RBA is currently under a two-year contract with the RNAC for maintenance and necessary service.
