BIRATNAGAR, DEC 01 - An active cooperation of the media in generating public awareness against social anomalies like dowry has been called for here by an organisation founded by the public to fight against dowry.
The Anti-Dowry Pahila Abhiyan, Rupandehi organised a press conference here to inform the press about the anti-dowry activities that the organisation has initiated.
At the conference, a supporter of the campaign Ram Prasad Kafley narrated a real story of how his sister Babita was murdered by her husband for bringing with her very little dowry.
Following the incident, the organisation was founded by men and women of Devdat region in order to initiate a nationwide campaign against dowry, it is learnt.Posted on: 2003-11-30 10:32
