Red corner notice hurdle for talks: Madhav Nepal

POST REPORT

KATHMANDU, DEC 01 - General Secretary of CPN-UML Madhav Kumar Nepal said here today that the red corner notice issued recently by Interpol against the Maoist leaders following the government’s request has created hurdles for future peace talks.
Speaking at a programme in Kirtipur, Nepal said the issuance of the red corner notice that binds most nations around the world to arrest the marked leaders has pushed back the possibilities of the peace talks.
Meanwhile, replying to a question raised by media persons in Biratnagar, Minister for Information and Communications Kamal Thapa said that the red corner notice would not prove to be a hurdle in the talks with the Maoists since the last government held talks with the rebels when not only the red corner notice was in existence against them, but there was also price tags against their heads.Posted on: 2003-11-30 10:36
