DOTS treatment effective for TB

LALITPUR, NOV 30 - Health Minister Kamal Thapa has said that the DOTS treatment method introduced by the government is very effective to control tuberculosis in the country.
Speaking at a programme organised here to mark the 50th anniversary of Nepal Tuberculosis Eradication Organisation here today, he said there are about 80,000 tuberculosis patients, 40,000 new patients appear every year and about 7,000 die of the disease in Nepal every year.
Founder chairperson of the organisation Kamal Rana stressed the need of four separate beds for tuberculosis patients in every hospital.Posted on: 2003-11-29 11:08
