UK envoy arriving for top level talks

POST REPORT

KATHMANDU, NOV 29 - UK special representative to Nepal Sir Jeffery James is arriving here on Sunday. He will be meeting PM Surya Bahadur Thapa, Chief of the Army Staff General Pyar Jung Thapa, members of some international organisations and leaders of major political parties during his visit, the British Embassy in Kathmandu stated.
This is his fourth visit to Nepal since February 2003, when he was appointed as special representative to Nepal to assist restore peace in Nepal. The UK is co-ordinating the development and security aid to Nepal to resolve the Maoist problem.
During his Nepal visit on the last week of September, King Gyanendra had refused to grant an audience to James. The king’s denial to meet James had cooled the relations between the British embassy and the palace.Posted on: 2003-11-28 11:25
