KATHMANDU, NOV 29 - A meeting of Nepal Bar Association (NBA) and senior advocates today decided to meet Chief Justice Kedar Nath Upadhyaya on Monday to appreciate the true facts concerning the controversy surrounding the recent recommendations of the Constitutional Council (CC) for the vacant post of the Chief Election Commissioner.
"The recent recommendations as surfaced in the media has drawn our attention. We have decided to meet the Chief Justice to know about the actual decision of the CC before commenting on the issue," Sindhu Nath Pyakurel, chairman of Nepal Bar Association, told journalists after the meeting.
Most of the participants speaking at the meeting had opined that the Chief Justice should act more responsibly to uphold the honour of the CC at a time when the Prime Minster and the Speaker, chairman and the member of the CC are not constitutional, a participant told The Kathmandu Post.Posted on: 2003-11-28 11:28
