Railway links

NOV 24 - The recent news report on the proposed and long awaited Nepal-India railway links has evoked much interest in the peoples of both countries. A passenger terminal at Birgunj would also make travel to both sides much easier as people now have to undertake time-consuming and often hazardous journeys to cross the border. The Nepali government may also explore the possibilities to set up the railway link to the capital which may in turn revolutionise the internal traffic system. The extension of the railway link from Birgunj to Simra shall be more convenient. It could be possible to generate the traffic volume and speedier disposal of small air cargos at reduced costs which may benefit many consumers. Perhaps, monorail or an elevated railway track system for Nepal could be a better option, even though the cost factor may be a deterrent for its implementation.
