Elephants ruin 6 houses in Gaighat

GAIGHAT, NOV 18 - A herd of four elephants destroyed four weakly built houses within the Triuga municipality of Udayapur district midnight yesterday and terrorised municipal residents. The elephants destroyed the houses of Amrit Bahadur Danuwar and Bhim Danuwar in Triuga-4 and those of Raj Kumar Sharma and Pahalman Sharki. The elephants also consumed paddy stored inside the houses, according to sources.
Meanwhile, another herd of elephants also destroyed a house in Hadiya VDC-5 and damaged crops on the farm as well as those stored in the house, according to Ganesh Niraula, a teacher in the area.Posted on: 2003-11-17 09:28
