Two Nepalis die on duty in Saudi Arabia
MYAGDI, NOV 17 - Two youth from Myagdi district working as labourers have died in the course of their work in separate areas of Saudi Arabia.
Man Prasad Purja, 24 of Histan VDC-1 employed as a labourer in construction works in a city of Saudi Arabia died in an accident last Wednesday. Purja had been working in constructing and painting houses for the past two years.
The information of Purja’s death was passed on to family members in Nepal by deceased’s friends in Saudi Arabia, according Raj Maya Purja, a sister in law of the deceased.
However, the company with which Purja was working has denied compensation the deceased and his friends are trying to sue the company in the Saudi court, according to Manmaya. She added that preparations to fly in the corpse of her deceased brother-in-law are being finalised.
Similarly, Lalit Purja, another youth of Doba VDC-9 who had gone to Saudi Arabia to earn some money so as to pay off the debt to a local land-lord, died while on duty.
Lalit, who was killed by a speeding vehicle, was employed as a ‘roadman’ for the past one year. Two other Nepali co-workers from other districts had also died in this incident.
However, Lalit’s corpse is still in Saudi Arabia due to economic constraints to fly it home, according to the deceased’s kin here.
Lalit’s death has orphaned his two children, both below four. Despite, high risks many youths from Myagdi district go to Saudi Arabia for labour work.
