Gutsy widow who fought for justice dead

PR

KATHMANDU, NOV 15 - Eighty-six-year-old Safala Devi, a widow who spent her entire life fighting for justice breathed her last today without getting justice. Safala, who had headed for her home district Kavre from Kathmandu in connection with her Court case last Wednesday, died following a minor illness.
She had been frequently visiting the Court since 1967 when her step-sons tactfully transferred her husband’s property in their name.
The District Court had given a verdict asserting her as one of the successors to her husband’s assets, within two years since she filed the case. The then Zonal Court, Regional Court and the Supreme Court also confirmed the District Court’s verdict, but she had to wage further fight to ensure her share of the property.
