Father’s plea for son’s treatment
PARBAT, NOV 12 - Both kidneys of Lokendra Kunwar had stopped functioning properly when he was three years of age. After spending Rs. 3,00,000, in the treatment of his son, mostly through loans from others, Resham Bahadur Kunwar has become completely penniless.
After he talked to The Kathmandu Post correspondent about his son’s plight and how he needed money for further treatment for his son’s ailment, some financial help poured in from Nepalese living abroad due to the story being published in the Kantipur Daily, a sister publication of The Kathmandu Post.
It is learnt that relief assistance of Rs. 73,000 collected by 35 Nepalese staying in Norway was sent to the boy’s father for his son’s very much needed treatment.
The money was spent on the boy’s treatment at Bir Hospital started during the end of August last, appears to be insufficient as treatment needs to be prolonged. Doctors involved in the treatment, however, said that the boy’s kidneys were not completely damaged and could be cured after proper and regular intake of medicines. The father, now faced with a financial crunch, says that he may not be able to give continuity to the ongoing treatment, especially as the available funds would be depleted in a month’s time.
Therefore, desperately in need of more financial assistance from any generous individual or social organisation, he hopes for the best for further treatment to cure his son. Posted on: 2003-11-11 08:47
