Outstanding artists felicitated

POST REPORT

KATHMANDU, NOV 11 - Artists Kalidas Shrestha and Uttam Nepali, and sculptor Thakur Prasad Mainali, the pillars of Nepali fine arts and toilers in the field for more than five decades, were honoured by Parashu Narayan Chaudhary, Chairman of Rajsabha Standing Committee, at a function organised by Lalitkala Critics’ Society here today.
This is the second time the society has paid its respect to the aesthetes of fine arts in the country. Artist Jib Ratna Shakya was bestowed with the honours last year. In the programme, Parashu Narayan Chaudhary expressed his profound appreciation to the champions of creation. "Respecting artists is respecting ourselves for they, through their creation depict us, our culture and history," he said.
Ramesh Khanal, president of the society, said the honour was the recognition of the artists’ tireless effort in a profession, which is often bypassed without notice.Posted on: 2003-11-10 09:41
