Security forces recover looted paddy, maize
NEPALGUNJ, NOV 10 - The security forces have recovered a large amount of harvested paddy and maize looted by the Maoists from local farmers in the remote VDCs south of the Rapti River in Banke district. According to security sources in Nepalgunj, raids carried out in the VDCs led to a recovery of some 200 quintals of paddy and some amount of maize.
Security forces are presently carrying out a search campaign in the area after information was received of increase in Maoists activities as well as smuggling of arms from across the border. The five-day campaign was carried out in Fattehpur, Binouna and Baijapur VDCs, it is learnt.
During the campaign, clashes were held with the Maoists in some places where seven Maoists were killed. The security forces also recovered various accommodation goods from a training centre run by the terrorists.Posted on: 2003-11-09 09:39
