TKP reporter frisked by army for pictures
KATHMANDU, NOV 10 - The security personnel have frisked the personal belongings like diary and bag of the Khotang-based reporter of The Kathmandu Post and confiscated photographs related to Maoists.
The Khotang-based reporter, Shahi Man Rai, had arrived in Bhojpur at the end of the field visit to Khotang and Bhojpur on Saturday.
The security personnel scanned the room of the hotel where the reporter was lodged up and had gone away with 8 photographs related to the rebels on Sunday. The pictures showed wounded rebel, vandalised scene of the Village Development
Committee (VDC) office, banners related to Kirat autonomy and scenes depicting rebels enacting in a play with modern and sophisticated arms (machine gun) in full display.
Report said the army personnel came straight to his room and started looking for incriminating material even after they were shown the identification card of the reporter.
The four army personnel, out of a large number of them who had come to the village, combed the personal belongings for incriminating material, although they assured that the picture of the injured rebels could be returned.
