Soaltee Super Sixes begins next week
KATHMANDU, NOV 08 - The fifth Soaltee Crowne Plaza Super Sixes Cricket Tournament will begin on November 14, the organiser Soaltee Crowne Plaza announced today.
"The most sought-after corporate tournament will be held during 14-17 November at the TU Cricket Stadium," general manager Rajiv Malla said at a press conference. The tournament, to be participated by 16 teams, is being held with the theme ‘All Play, No Work.’"More than 25 teams showed their interest for participation but due to time factor we could only accommodate 16," said Malla. The league-cum-knockout tournament will be played under the internationally accepted MCC rules and regulations under the technical support from Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN).
The retired cricketers in CAN executive committee will play the winner of the tournament in a friendly after the completion of the tournament, according to Jugesh Shreshta.
"This year only employees of the participating companies will be allowed to play," said Shrestha. Roshan Adiga, the captain of organising team, and tournament co-ordinator Sarad Upadhyay were also present in the press conference.
The participating teams are divided into four groups – the winner of each ground qualifying for the semifinal. In group A, defending champion Indian Embassy, ILFC, Nabil Bank and Himalayan Bank will compete for top place while group C consists of Gorkha Brewery, Everest Insurance, Laxmi Bank and British Gurkha. In group D, Soaltee Crowne Plaza, Bank of Kathmandu, Standard Chartered Bank and Kumari Bank will vie for a place in semifinal.
