2 injured in shootout

KATHMANDU, NOV 06 - Two persons were injured when a group of suspected Maoists opened indiscriminate fire at the employees of the Samarjung Company situated in Bhotahiti, at 1:55 pm today. Among the injured are Baidar Ram Prasad Pokhrel, 45 and soldier Krishna Bahadur Majhi, 30.
Majhi, hailing from Ranibas-1, Sindhuli said that three unidentified people opened fire from the window ~ ~ "I narrowly escaped a bullet shot that was aimed at my head," he said.
"The assailants fled towards the Bir Hospital after the shootout," Majhi said. Both Majhi and Pokhrel received bullet injuries on their legs and are receiving treatment at the Bir Hospital.
The Samarjung Company is one of the oldest military establishments in Nepal, functioning under Home Ministry. Caps of 14 bullets of Chinese pistols were recovered from the shootout site. Among them, 13 cases belong to bullets of 7.62 Chinese pistols and one of 9.2 Caliber Chinese pistol.Posted on: 2003-11-05 08:59
