Chitwan observes Haribodhini Ekadashi

POST REPORT

CHITWAN, NOV 05 - On the occasion of Haribodhini Ekadashi, an important Hindu festival, when fasting is observed, fairs were observed at the four renowned pilgrim sites in Chitwan today.
Devghat, Pitaujighat, Chitrasari, and the one in Narayangadh, the four sites were crowded from early morning by hundreds of devotees from different parts of the country. Devotees had come in from Nawalparasi, Tanahun, Lamjung, Gorkha and other surrounding areas of the district to take a holy bath.
It is learnt that the indigenous Tharu people conduct two days of pooja (worship ceremony) at the Chitrasen Baba’s temple situated in the eastern part of Chitrasari in Chitwan, while other Hindu devotees observe pooja and religious ceremonies for one day, today.
On this pious day, devotees observe fast and take a holy dip at the rivers near the holy sites, or at the closest clean water-sources, apart from visiting the above religious sites.Posted on: 2003-11-04 09:21
