Five parties to embolden agitation
KATHMANDU, NOV 03 - Five political parties agitating against the king’s October 4, 2002 move, asserted that there was no any alternative to movement to restore the derailed constitutional process.
A meeting of the task force of the Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, Peoples’ Front Nepal (PFN), Nepal Workers and Peasants Party (NWPP) and Nepal Sadbhawana Party (NSP) today concluded that the parties would continue with their agitation against regression.
Lila Mani Pokharel, vice chairman of the PFN told The Kathmandu Post that the parties would embolden their movement against regression. "The task-force of the parties will chalk out necessary programmes for the agitation in near future," Pokharel said.
He also informed that the meeting decided to call a high-level meeting of the parties before November 9 which, according to him, would give final shape to the nature of the programmes. The meeting also condemned the government for nominating representatives in local bodies. "The meeting termed the government’s nomination-spree as a conspiracy to extend its illegal tenure," Pokharel said.
The party leaders strongly criticised the Prime Minister Surya Bahadur Thapa for his remarks to hold parliamentary polls. He claimed that the parties would continue their movement despite such ‘rumours’ blown up by the ‘retrogressive’ government.
He said that the meeting flayed both the government and the Maoists for the rampant violation of civil rights across the country.Posted on: 2003-11-02 10:03
