Thapa bags Dr Hayata Golf title
KATHMANDU, NOV 03 - Colonel Kosh Bahadur Thapa won the 14th Dr. Hayata Golf Tournament played at the Royal Nepal Golf Club (RNGC) on Saturday.
He netted 35 points to win the tournament played on stableford full handicap format. Thapa also won the Macho award for the longest drive in the 13th hole.
Gopal Chitrakar came second on countback after finishing on 33 points along with Major Ganga Bahadur Gurung. Ram Karki grossed 21 points to win the award for best gross.
Likewise, Shastika Shrestha pipped Ritu Lumba to claim the title in ladies’ section. Genral Sachit SJB Rana edged Himalaya SJB Rana to win the super-senior title.Major Narendra Kumar Rai was the winner in senior section while Sunny Baral got away with the junior title. Rai also carded two birdies to win the award for the most number of birdies.
Bishnu Bikram Shahi hit the closest to the pin in the eighth hole. Indra Thapa won the rookie award while Govinda Subedi netted nine points to win sportsmanship (booby) award that is awarded to the second-last finisher.
Narendra Kumar Rai and Puspa Rai were declared the golfing couple of the year while Gyan Prasad Karmacharya was declared the most regular golfer. Sher Bhahadur Pandey was awarded for being the smartest golfer.
Former Inspector General
of Police and ex-president of RNGC Khadgajeet Baral organised the tournamnet on behalf of Dr. Hayata. A total of 56
