Mudhvara residents complain of foul odour

(pr)

DOTI, OCT 20 - A foul smell has engulfed the entire Mudhvara village in Doti with the Maoists’ decaying dead-bodies on the premises of Sharada Higher Secondary School. A dozen Maoists were killed during exchange of fire with the security personnel last Monday.
"The smell emanating from the corpses has engulfed the entire village. We are forced to suffocate in this filthy atmosphere as we dare not dispose off the dead bodies," said a villager requesting anonymity. "What if the Maoists target us if we do so without their permission?"
Corpses of Maoists have been lying scattered even on the farms near the school. One corpse lies near the health post close to the school. As a consequence farmers are unable to harvest their crops and the health post has been closed down.
Villagers have stopped taking their cattle to the local pond as another corpse lies near it. Thus, the cattle are deprived of enough drinking water.
The make it worse, two stray dogs of the village have started feeding on the corpses, informed villagers.Posted on: 2003-10-19 10:36
