Saraswoti into ‘B’ division
KATHMANDU, OCT 19 - Saraswoti Club have come on top of the thrilling Saturday showdown with Sanepa Club by drawing the match 0-0. Going into the match, both Saraswoti and Sanepa had three wins and a draw each while Saraswoti were ahead in terms of goals, having managed to hit 17, six alone from Data Ram Nepal and five from Ram Kamal Raut, and been hit for only two goals. Sanepa, on the other hand had accumulated only 10 and been hit for three. Saraswoti will now have to prepare for the Martyr’s Memorial ANFA ‘B’ Division Football Tournament after qualifying, from the Group ‘A’ of the Martyr’s Memorial ANFA ‘C’ Division Football Tournament, by virtue of the higher number of goals.
The fight for ‘B’ Division qualification may be over in group ‘A’, but the fight to remain in the ‘C’ Division next year and not to be relegated this year is still on. Cannon Club look to be less likely for relegation. Cannon Club pulled their first win today with a 4-2 against Bishnu Devi Club. Two goals from Prabin Budhathoki and a goal each from Ashish KC and Sunil Khanal gave Cannon the coveted win. For the hapless Bishnu Devi, Binod KC and Ram Maharjan scored. Cannon now have one win and a draw up their sleeves while Bishnu Devi are on the verge of relegation. Both teams have one match each, so a win, by whatever margin, will not be sufficient for Bishnu Devi Club. In a year where ten teams in the ‘C’ division are new and came after successes in the ‘C’ Division qualifying round, Bishnu Devi, will be this year’s first team to be relegated, even though they are one of the older teams.
In the less significant yet equally competitive match between new entrants Samajik Youth and Yuba Samaj Club, Samajik emerged winners 2-1. Pratap Tamang and Amir Karki shone for Samajik while Suman Maharjan gave Yuba Samaj their lone goal.
