“Maoist army management crucial for constitution-writing”

Government is ready to solve the problems of the industrial sector.
MORANG, NOV 02 - Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal Monday said the constitution cannot be written until the issue of Maoist army and arms is finalised.
The public cannot feel freedom until there are weapons in the hands of an individual and army in the party’s, he said while addressing the inauguration of Manmohan Memorial Polytechnic in Hattimudha, Morang.
He said the Maoists are in “illusion that the problems can be solved by burning tyres in the streets.”
He warned that if any party possesses arms, it will have serious impact on the upcoming elections.
Stating the constitution-drafting process can never take speed until the arms are managed, he added the government has, therefore, prioritised the tasks of arms management and constitution-drafting.
Likewise, Minister for Physical Planning and Works Bijaya Kumar Gachhadar accused the Maoists of delaying the constitution-drafting process. Nobody should play with the country’s future, he added.
On the occasion, CPN-UML chairman Jhalanath Khanal called on the Unified CPN (Maoist) to create environment of trust for consensus to put an end to the current political stalemate.
Minister for Industry Mahendra Raya Yadav, Minister for Education Ramchandra Kushwaha, UML General Secretary Ishwor Pokharel and Prime Minister's press advisor Bishnu Rijal were amongst the participants at the inauguration of the Polytechnic.
The Polytechnic has been established with Indian assistance of Rs 460 million under India-Nepal Economic Cooperation Programme.
