Girl found dead in Dallu

KATHMANDU, SEP 20 - In yet another shocking incident, a 13-year-old child was found dead at Dallu area in the capital. Police found the dead body of Sushma Majhi, who had been missing for the last four days, in a decomposed state with head and knee injuries near Gitamata School on Friday evening.

Majhi, a Sindhuli native, was studying a third grader in Kankeshwori Secondary school, and had been living in a two-room flat with her father at Dallu.

According to a police officer investigating the case, the child was last seen walking with two youths near her residence on Tuesday evening. Police have detained five youths, including a son of landlord Rajesh Maharjan, in connection with the incident. However, the suspected mastermind behind the incident is still on the run, police said.

On Tuesday evening, Sushma's father, Maharjan and other youths had reportedly consumed alcohol in the falt.

The reason of Majhi's death could not be verified independently pending the post-mortem report from TU Teaching Hospital, said the police.

Meanwhile, a group of unidentified youths have beaten 33-year-old Arun Maharjan to death at Imadol area of Lalitpur on Friday night. The youths had reportedly pelted stones on Maharjan on Friday night. Critically injured Maharjan was rushed to Patan Hospital with head injuries, where he breathed his last, said the police. Police have arrested nine youths, including 30-year-old Dilan Maharjan, in connection with the incident.
