Defendants asked to furnish reply
SURKHET, AUG 06 -
The Appellate Court in Surkhet has asked defendants, including the District Administration Office, to explain why Lord Buddha’s statue is being placed at Kakrebihar.
A single bench of Judge Keshab Raj Joshi on Monday also asked the defendants to furnish a written reply within 15 days after receiving the court ’s order. The other defendants are the District Forest Office, district forest officer, District Forest Coordination Committee, District Development Committee and Latikoili VDC.
Petitioners Padam Dev Giri and Tilbahadur Bhandari had filed a writ on behalf of Joint Religion Struggle Committee on Sunday claiming that the recommendation made by local authorities and political parties is not legitimate and should be scrapped. Local authorities and political parties, however, had recommended for installation of Budhha’s statue at a place near Kakrebihar.
