KATHMANDU, MAY 07 -

The first match of the AFC Presidents’ Cup being held in Dasrath Stadium in Kathmandu ended in a draw after both Three Star Club and Bangladeshi Abahani Limited scored one goal each within the stipulated 90 minutes of play on Tuesday.

Nepali League winners Three Star Club took the lead in the 16th minute when Jagdish Shrestha scored the first goal.

However, the Bangladeshi Club hit back to level 1-1 in the 39th minute when Abahani player Sahidul scored for their club, minutes before the half-time stage of the match.

No goals were scored in the second half despite plenty of chances for both the clubs.

This is the second time the Patan-based outfit are representing Nepal in the international club championship organised between the league champions of third-tier Asian nations as determined by Asian Football Confederation.

The last time they have participated in the championship was in 2005, where they have reached up to the semi-finals.
