KATHMANDU, MAR 01 - President of the Constitutional Committee of the disbanded Constituent Assembly (CA) Nilambar Acharya has said that formation of an election government under Khil Raj Regmi by seeking his resignation from the post of Chief Justice would be irrelevant.

Speaking at an interaction programme in the capital on Friday, he said forming such government under the former chief justice is not different from that of such government formed by resigning the sitting Chief Justice from the post.

Acharya also said that there was no other option for the formation of the new government or holding the fresh elections in the constitution.

There was no other alternative to brining the constitution in right track by forming the CJ-led government, Acharya added.

Saying that the sitting Chief Justice would no longer head the judiciary once he assumes the office of the prime minister. He was of the opinion that fresh CA elections were possible by mid-June if political management was done. "Otherwise, elections should be conducted by mid-December," Acharya said.

The political parties should remove difficulties through the President to give a wayout to the country, he added.
